Planning a wedding is exciting, and there are so many ideas to choose from to make your big day memorable. It’s important that your guests enjoy themselves too. After all, they’re taking the time to celebrate your day. For a great wedding that will please you, and all of your guests, read the five wedding party ideas below.

1. Wedding Games

Wedding games are great for seeing how well your guests know you. Trivia-styles games are one of many popular options for guests to play. After everyone completes a card asking different facts about you, you can call out the right answers for everyone to see how well they did. Menu puzzles are another creative idea, where each seat at the table is a piece of the menu that reveals the full menu when combined.

Consider crossword puzzles on the back of programs and “advice cards” for guests to fill out on their way in for you to read later. Wedding games are great for socializing and to get everyone mingling. Games are also a wonderful photo op for fun and candid shots. Collaborate with your photographer to ensure the most memorable photo album.

2. Interactive Food Stations

The meal aspect of the wedding involves a lot of sitting, which can take a toll on even the liveliest guest. Consider changing up the traditional plating style with innovative food stations and other wedding catering options. You could even have chef on site cooking up dinner and entertaining the guests… Imagine: a mashed potato bar that accompanies your carved roast station.

The entire food portion doesn’t have to be DIY stations, but certain options, such as appetizers or desserts, allow you to present the food in a fun way. For wedding party ideas, this is a popular option that helps break up the meal and gives your guests more time to socialize throughout the evening.

3. Tasting Stations

Food isn’t the only thing worth rebooting. Liven up the bar with different bar carts and tasting stations. Guests can sample different wines and whiskies and learn how to understand the many tasting notes. Remember to add the couple’s favourite drinks and mixes to add that personal touch.

Include bubbly bars with garnishes, fruit, and flavoured ice cubes for guests to spruce up their champagne. Have mocktail versions available at each station...You’ll be sure to please all of your guests, from the scotch hounds and wine connoisseurs to the kids and alcohol-free partygoers!

4. Thoughtful (and Useful) Favours

The wedding favour is the cherry on top of a fabulous reception, but picking one can be tough. For wedding party ideas your guests will love, keep thoughtful and useful in mind when choosing a favour. Consider handmade soaps packaged and labelled with the wedding details; package a bag of your favourite coffee beans; send guests off with a cute succulent.

If it’s an outdoor wedding, the favour could be inexpensive sunglasses labelled with the wedding date or your name. Not only are these options fun, they’ll be put to use. Or make a donation to your favourite charity in your guests’ names.

5. Add a Personal Touch

Personalized touches show your guests that you took the time to think of them in making your day memorable. It’d be a mistake and poor wedding etiquette not to thank them.

Place cards on tables show the care given to ensure each guest invited is loved and appreciated. Welcome bags are a fun alternative that can be filled with useful and cute items, such as a gift card to your favourite coffee shop or little bottles of bubbly, with individual welcome notes for each guest. Consider a family tree seating chart that shows how everyone is connected. Spelling out the relationship for guests sitting together who don’t know each other is a good icebreaker.

It’s a special day for you, the couple, but adding an extra something for the guests shows that your friends and family how thankful you are for their support.
