1. Lantern Centerpieces

Set the mood with candlelight. Arrange three or four jars on the table, creating dimensions using candles of varying heights. The glow of the flickering light makes for instance romance. To unify the look, place them on wooden tree stump boards or enclosed around pine.

2. Flower Holders

Paint the jars in your wedding colour palette and fill them with short-stemmed flowers, such as baby’s breath, hydrangeas, and trimmed roses. You can use them as part of your centerpiece or hang them from the ceremony aisle chairs. Attach some twine around the neck to complete the woodsy vibe.

3. Mini Terrariums

What better way to add a little greenery into your wedding than with tiny gardens? The beauty of this DIY project is that each one can be unique, providing whimsical flair and ensuring no two are alike. Fill them with rocks, sand, and different plants, switching from mini cacti to aloe and coloured succulents. Guests can even take them home at the end of the night.

4. Hanging Chandeliers

Create a dreamy vibe with a handmade chandelier. Fill jars with twinkling lights or fake battery candles for a glowing, romantic look. Hang them individually throughout the venue, strategically alternating them among the rafters, or group them together to hang from the ceiling in a cluster.

5. Pre-Mixed Mason Jar Beverages

Drinking from a mason jar is still very hip. Capture the casual affair of a rustic wedding using ice buckets filled with pre-made drinks—all guests need to do is a grab a jar. Offer spiked lemonade, mimosas, and mojitos: Label the lids so guests know what they’re picking up. Keep a booze-free bucket on deck as well to ensure there’s something for everyone. 6. A Bridal “Emergency” Kit

Fashion tiny emergency kits for the bridal party. Decorate and personalize each jar for your bridesmaids, filling them with everything they might need to put out any last-minute fires. Add nail polish, a tiny pair of scissors, a needle and thread, gum, and clothing tape. You and your bridesmaids will have everything you need.

7. Personalized Name Drinks

Guests won’t have to worry about confusing their glasses when they have one with their names on it. Place an escort card around each glass, listing the guest’s name and table number. They’ll know where they’re going right away, and they’ll already have glassware for the reception. This DIY project even doubles as a wedding favour. If clear glasses sound boring, opt for a coloured variety that ties into your rustic wedding theme.

8. A Party Caddy

Set the table in a new way. Line each jar with a handkerchief napkin and place all necessary cutlery inside. Each guest will have their own personal jars at the table, and they’ll be less likely to mix up whose fork belongs to whom. The emptied jar conveniently becomes their drinking glass, pulling double duty on the table.

9. Bake Your Own Dessert

Mason jar desserts are an absolute crowd-pleaser. Give guests something sweet to take home by filling jars with the ingredients of your favourite treat, whether it’s fudge brownies or chocolate chip cookies. It’s a special way to end the day, and it’s a delicious favour you know will get used.

Wedding centerpieces can be expensive. Consider these five cost-saving alternatives to the traditional wedding centerpiece.
