One of the reasons that weddings are so notoriously stressful to plan is because there are so many details to think about.

From the outset, it may seem like planning your big day is simply a matter of arranging the large aspects, when in fact it’s the little things that end up overwhelming you.

Here are seven finishing touches to consider for your big day!

1. Cake Topper

A cake topper is one of those small details that can help personalize your big day. While wedding cakes tend to be more beautifully constructed and aesthetically pleasing, the cake topper can show off your personality a little bit.Find a topper that speaks to your hobbies, likes, or shared experiences with your partner.

Get creative and have fun with the cake topper. Plus, it makes for a great souvenir.

2. Personalized Place Cards

While your big day is mostly about you and your partner, it’s good to show some appreciation for the friends and family who have come out to support your love.

Personalized place cards are a simple gesture that shows the care you have taken to ensure each guest that has been invited to share your big day with you is loved and appreciated.

3. A Guest Book

Guest books may seem a bit out-dated, but they actually provide a lovely souvenir of your big day. They can help remind you of all the people who came out to celebrate with you. They are also a great way, in years to come, to look back and see the friends and family who were there when your family began, and a way to connect with ones who may no longer be with you.

One way you can spice up the traditional guest book is by asking guests to leave specific notes for like, like tips for a great marriage or memories they have of you and your partner!

4. Signature Drink

This is a great way of tying together all of the celebrations. A signature drink can crystallize the theme of your wedding while also making the entire experience more memorable for all attendees. Consult with your caterer about making your own drink; most caterers will be able to accommodate this.Consider carrying the drink throughout all of the wedding celebrations, like your rehearsal, showers, and morning-after brunch.

5. DIY Photo-Booth

You may have seen these popping up more and more at celebrations in the last few years, which makes sense—everyone loves them and they are so much fun! A DIY photo-booth gives your guests a way to commemorate the event for themselves, while also giving them more options for things to do. For the DIY portion, go to a party store and pick up a bunch of goofy accessories, like big glasses and funny hats. Guests will love it.

6. Candy Stations

Having a candy station at your wedding is another great feature that can liven up the celebrations. The best parties have plenty of options for satiating your sweet tooth, and the candy station can be the perfect way to do just that.

It’s also fun and quirky! While we’ve come to expect the traditional fare at receptions, candies are one of those things that everyone loves but rarely see at bigger events. It’s also easy put together—take a drinks cart and some bowls of various sizes, then fill them with candy you’ve stocked up with from the bulk section. Presto! Don’t forget to add personalized bags or containers for your guests to take goodies home in.

7. Wedding Favours

The best weddings are ones that are memorable, not just for the couple but for the guests too. Party favours are a way of expressing appreciation to your guests while also giving them a souvenir to help them remember the experience.

Favours can range from personal to functional. It’s mostly meant to be something small and fun for the guests to take away with them. Don’t stress too much over what that entails—with favours it’s more the thought that counts. Something that specifically references the date of your nuptials or the names of you and your partner can make for especially nice party favours!
