As you enjoy your summer barbecues, time at the beach, and relaxing weekends sipping cider on the dock overlooking the lake, Christmas time is probably the last thing on your mind. In fact, you’re probably blocking the winter season from your memory all together, as summer always seem to fly by in an instant.

While you might not want to hear this, the holiday season is only months away, so if you haven’t considered what you’ll be doing to celebrate the season, we’d like to remind you that tis’ the season to book your holiday party

Here are a few reasons why you should start thinking about this now:

Venues Book up Fast

It is true that there is a heck of a lot of venues to choose from in the GTA when it comes to hosting your party. However, there are only so many weekends to choose from around the holidays (unless you don’t mind celebrating in the new year).

Venues book up surprisingly fast—often six months or more in advance—so if you don’t start thinking about your holiday party earlier in the year, you might get left out in the cold (so to speak). Some businesses even reserve a certain date each year and have a standing contract with a certain venue who hosts their holiday party year after year. It’s contracts like this that can make it difficult to find a free night at your venue of choice close to the holidays.

You Don’t Have to Plan It Alone

You may have been put in charge of organizing your office holiday party this year and if the thought of being responsible for such an important event is giving you nightmares, here are a couple of reasons to relax:

First of all, just because you’ve been assigned the task of getting the ball rolling, doesn’t mean you’re going to have to go down this road alone. Aside from recruiting some friends from the office where needed, your chosen venue should have the ideas and experience to guide you through the holiday party planning process with ease.

Some venues will even assign you a dedicated coordinator to work with to ensure that your holiday party is everything you dreamed it would be.

Catering

Like the party venues themselves, catering companies often get booked up around the holidays as well. Your party venue may have a preferred company they recommend you work with, or it might be up to you to make some calls and hire your own caterers. If it’s the later, we suggest you get on this task as early as possible to avoid the disappointment of having your preferred caterers be already booked.

Venues

As we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of places to choose from when you’re deciding where to host your holiday party. If you need some inspiration to get your search started, here are some of our favourite venues around the city:

-FountainBlu, 200 Princes’ Blvd, Toronto

Located on the Exhibition grounds in the heart of Toronto, this modern space features large fountains and a bridge overlooking the lake. Suitable for parties of up to 450 people.

-The Everleigh, 580 King Street West, Toronto

Fusing old and new world concepts across two rooms, this event space allows for unlimited configurations. Suitable for parties of up to 500 people, or 300 seated guests.

-Maison Mercer, 15 Mercer Street, Toronto

Centrally located in Toronto’s Entertainment District, this multi-level venue is versatile and features a dance floor and performance stage. Suitable for parties of up to 950 people.
